Back on Line-ATZ campaign resumes-Orders Group.

None of the great and bold was capable of organising the complexity of the operation Major Square had proposed so they deferred to his greater experience. Drawing on the information provided by Col. Hill and Commissioner Le Willows the retired British Officer formulated his operational order.

“ORDERS"

"Situation: The situation has not changed since the briefing you received the other day. However the barrier behind which the sick are held is faltering. We believe that it will not last long. The environment will be considered ‘hostile’.

Enemy Forces: The sick, exact numbers are not known but they cannot be reasoned with and must be eliminated. Additionally, local gang members have been active. These will be dealt with on an individual basis.

Friendly Forces: This is a combined operation. Police, military, BOI, fire service and civilian aid.

Mission: Our mission is to evacuate as many non-sick personnel from Purgatory as possible.

Execution: the operation will be in three phases: Deployment, Evacuation and withdrawal.

Deployment: The Deployment Force will enter Purgatory, secure a marshaling area clear the shacks in their TAOR and direct the non-operational personnel to said area. Additionally it will protect that area during the evacuation.

Evacuation: Upon receiving the ‘area secure’ make to the marshaling area, en-bus non-coms and return to the secure area. There will be two lifts prior to reassessment and or withdrawal.

Withdrawal: The Deployment Force will collapse in on the Marshaling area and be vehicle lifted back to the secure area.”

The orders continued for another twenty minutes, wherein individual tasks were allocated and various policies outlined. Square, identified himself as the forward operational commander in the ‘marshalling area’ with Gunny Highway and Constable Regan as his field commanders. On completion maps, sketches and aerial photographs were revised. Questioned were asked and answered.

“First move, 0600 hours tomorrow.”

SITREP-Offline

Just a quick note from work. I've had a catastrophic IT crash at Castle PZ resulting in the need for a new router. As a result I'll be off line for a couple of weeks. I'll try and keep up with your blogs but I won't be able to comment. That's a shame as there is some interesting stuff going on out there.

Found this before the crash and thought what a great day at work that'd be, police issue swimming togs! The last costume I got I wore the elbows and knees out of!

Take care out there. Catch up to you all soon.

Lorcan.

100th Post - Begining of the End (?)

A Briefing

A blue-grey cloud hovered over the heads of Moor City's great and good. Mayor Brunswick St. Michael mentally checked off those that needed to be here: Police Commissioner Newton Le Willows; his second in command, Captain Hough Green (whose son had already paid the ultimate price). Colonel Mossley Hill, OIC 152nd National Guard and Major Michael Powers. A group of unknown BOI agents and the remaining members of the city council. All present and correct.

Rapping his gavel he brought silence to the room.

"Gentlemen. The situation in Purgatory is getting beyond tolerance. Tonight I have required your presence in order to receive a briefing form a governmental agent allocated to the city in order to help combat this outbreak, Gentlemen may I present Major Hamilton Square of the BOI."

Hamilton arose and briefly introduced himself. He outlined the geneses of a typical viral zombie outbreak and nodded to one of his field agents. The lights extinguished and the ghostly light of a slide projector illuminated the council room.

Slide 1

"Gentlemen. This is the area in which my colleagues and I cleared a couple of crates containing what I believed to be the Haitian Zombie Virus. What we have been experiencing in Purgatory is the self generation of the virus, through bites etc."

"However. Early aerial recon showed this,"

Slide 2

 "and the following day, this...."

Slide 3
"The following slides show that the zeds are collecting at a boundary fence at the bottom of Donkey Drive."

Slide 4

Slide 5

"And finally, yesterday."

Slide 6
"Zed numbers are increasing. The fence will only hold for a matter of a few days now."

"The math says forty eight  to sixty hours maximum!" interjected a voice from the darkness.

"Thank you Dr. Cooper. So we have sixty hours tops before hell visits Purgatory and thence Moor City. The only way to stop this is to meet it head on. Clear the non-infected out exterminate the sick and raze the shanty. Gentlemen that's you role. My men and I will locate the source and eliminate it."

The lights went on and chaos ensued.

NOT my 100th post!!!

Another late post. Once again due to failing health, and another weeks stay at hospital on i/v antibiotics. Thank heavens for modern medicine and the NHS, damn getting older! However it was somewhat on post as I was initially treated for necrotizing fasciitis (cute & zombie like, but not something you want to take to a party!)

Back to the plan. This was supposed to be my 100th blog. The start of 'The BIG GAME'; Police, Military, gangers, civilians and hordes of zombies trying to escape 'Purgatory'. As it happens all I could manage over the last fortnight was to tidy up the shanty shacks. So it's not my 100th blog it's my 99th 1/2 one.

So here they are for your delectation.

I undercoated the cardboard and pizza base models in grey. I forgot about the 'melting effect' of the paint. Which didn't effect the cardboard but actually gave the pizza base models a real fired look as it melted and rounded off the sharp edges, it also bent a couple of beams and pitted the walls/floors. A technique I will use again. Then just coated the various parts in suitable colours. Went to hospital.

Cut up some newspaper, pasted to the various buildings. With an unsteady hand outlined some panels on the shanties.

Highlighted the fire damage and washed the lot with black.

I must admit I just wanted to get it done and over with. They're not great but I think en masse with other bits and pieces I may get away with it.

Anyway take care out there and look after your health (we often take it so much for granted.)

All the best and thanks for reading,

Lorcan.

Ruined Shantys from Pizza Bases

Just a quick post to finish off my shanty building project. I wanted some ruins as I felt that the rampaging would have resulted in some burnt down properties. Cardboard didn't hold together so I tried the pizza bases. Here's the results.

More Shantys:WIP

Hi all you out there in ZBA land. This weeks post as I said last week would be just an update on increasing the size of Purgatory. I just wanted bulk not anything greatly detailed so I turned to a cardboard box.

Tools and material

Basic Box Shantys

Wrinkly Tin from a Coffee cup holder
As it 'offset it needs 'squaring up'

Adding detail: corrugated iron, opening doors/windows, adding drinking straw stovepipes.

Just slap a bit of paint,a bit more detail and hey presto. A couple of hours in the man tent.

With luck another week and a few more shacks and the game'll be afoot.

End Game (maybe)

As with the outing of FFO and the demise of Team Vampifan and I'm approaching my 100th post. I am considering drawing my 'Purgatory' campaign to a close. Subsequently, I've decided to have a megagame. Haven scenarios actually provide that opportunity with the last three 'military' games. Well that's my plan.

In order to complete it I need to create this feast I need to build a couple more boards and several new shanty shacks. This'll take a couple of weeks so I may not post as regularly. If I do it'll just be building updates.

I wonder if all will end well for Jack, Gunny and their teams. But as we all know the game has a habit of dictating what happens.

Keep up the good works I do follow your posts if I don't always comment.

Lorcan.
