Carrying on-Some good bits and some failure.

Well I got on with the campaign preparation and there were some good bits and not so good bits.

Not so good bits. I really dropped the ball with my dry brushing and got this!

These require a repaint.

On the mediocre side, I went a bit mad with the Lady Jessica and got this.

Further meritocracy, I needed some civilians, I had some Imex American Pilgrims and pressed them into service. They're out of era but I don't think that badly.

On the plus side I managed to finalise the house rules for the adventure and sort out the PEFs as well as building a map the actions.

What did I learn from this week?

You need to keep on top of your modelling and painting skills. As it is not far off a year since I did anything you really loose the knack. I'm hoping to start my campaign next week but I may try a couple of experiment games to get back into it and I don't want another failure week.

Keep your skills up and thanks for popping by.

Let's get back on topic.

Well after that brief sojourn I spent the last couple of days trying to get back on line with my current project.

I cracked on with the main characters for my tale.

They need: washing, dry painting, varnishing and generally tarting up. You'll meet them all, individually, as their adventure develops.

The Lady Jessica got a bit of extra modelling which I wasn't intending to do, but a lick of paint and I don't think she'll look too shabby.. Do I build a more significant role for her, she was just to appear in one episode.

Anyway, a bit more rule building to do this week. But first off to the big city for my eldest's driving theory test and (hopefully) a celebratory Chinese with the family.

I forgot how enjoyable modelling and posting is. Thanks for visiting.

Another X Wing post - Home made escape pods.

1. Get your tools together.
(The mints are crucial, the tea not so)
As you may know I do like to run pre-set scenarios into a mini campaign. The next one in X Wing is the protection of a wounded ship. It came to me that the ship(s) could be the escape pods from the Senator's shuttle in mission 1. As there are no such items in the X-Wing world I thought I'd cobble some together.

2.Cut out balsa bases.
1/4 the size of a small ship.

3. X-Wing tac -tics

4. With a steady extra hand,
 drill holes into the mints.

5. Stiff wire supports inserted into holes
and glued in place.

6.Raiding the spice cabinet for some detail.

7. A lick of paint
(Must practice close-ups again)

8.Ready to enter the fray.

The mat is a trial run on scrap piece of material that I am hoping to make a 3'x3' gaming mat on. If I get it going I'll blog the project.

I'm also working on a new zombie campaign. I think Gunnery Sergeant Highway will make a comeback. More to follow.

Hope all is well with you all. Keep safe.

Hors de Combat Diversion 1 - Corpses.

Being compelled to sit about certainly activates the 'must do modelling' button and so I embarked on a couple of projects. One being some 'scenery' corpses or casualty markers and the other a piece of terrain.

This is number one.

1. Remove the skeletons form the 'Undead' box

2. A little bit of surgery, place them on a base and hot glue.

2a. Close up, I quiet like the effect given by the glue.

3. PVA glue and a bath in grit.

3a. Completed but the 'glue effect' has gone. Note to self.

3b. Close up of a base.

4. Paint in the bones.

4b. Close up of bases.

I'll give them a dark wash when I'm at that stage with the other project. More to follow tomorrow.

Keep on modelling.

New Character (WIP) for New Campaign.

Enthusiasm is running rife for my Zombie World, it's a great escape from the reality. As mainly the ATZ world is based on you encountering the zeds I decided to design and make a character to portray me and to get a grip of this ongoing battle with 'green stuff'.

First: Find a suitable figure.

The Lucky Winner is.

A head swap with an ANZAC

I fancied myself as a bit of a loner wandering the wilderness in one of those long dust coats. So began the ongoing 'green stuff' battle.
Left over 'Green Stuff' modelled into equipment

Coat on
A new cane added

and a sawn-off shotgun in a holster.

A few more bits to do and welcome to Brother Bob

This blog's babe is?

From now on they all will have connections to zombie movies.
I think she will even stump the valiant Zabadak (well worth a visit if you're into modelling http://zabadakszombieworld.blogspot.co.uk/). Pimps for guessing the last beauty.

Thanks for popping by.

Yours,
Lorcan.

Zombie Clowns and other Deliciousness.

Tempus fugit. My great time on leave is coming to an end, Monday :-( . But the weekend holds some pleasantness; visiting my club and an open day at the local Rugger club. As cider may feature prominently I decided to get as much done in my current zombie project as possible.

And here it is. First up the Zombie Clowns. I wanted a rougher result to them so I just Skim painted them and tried out some washes and dry brush techniques, which I'm not too good at. Saying that I'm fairly pleased with the result.

Working in plastic means that it is cheap to practise some conversions. I rushed these ones but it was a good exercise just the odd cut and add, really gives an individuality to the figures. If I make some more I'll spend a bit more time cultivating head moves and the like.

The Chupacabras were next. Flushed with my success with the painting techniques I tried the same on these. Not too bad but I do need to get a grip on colour grading. Being colour blind doesn't help and I work in primary colours. Next time one of the heirs can sit with me and give the various shading.

Snakes are required in the 'Giving up the Goat World'. So a couple of 'green stuff' sausages for them.

Finally, Colgar6 suggested Zombie Nazis. Now as my games are set in the early Nazi era and I had no WW2 Germans I struggled with that. Then the electric light bulb lit above head and I came up with 'Zombie Bosch.' WW1 Airfix German Infantry, a craft knife and some glue. Changed some heads and arms, roughly scraped away the flash, UHU gloopy glue to give the 'just came from the grave' look and a grey undercoat.

I'll try again with the washing and dry-brushing and see how these come out and with a little luck smart Zombie Bosch.

And this weeks beauty is?

Enjoy what's left of the summer. Thanks for popping by.

MOJO Returning: On going goodness.

Ahh I can feel my gaming mojo returning. I ordered and got FFO from Ed this morning. I've scanned it and then jury is out. But it does look promising.
I got back onto wargaming through ATZ and blogging in order to develop a game of 'Giving up the Goat' the ATZ supplement. I wanted to take my two main characters (Hamilton Square and Conway Park) into hunting down the fabled chupracabra. But as you know, if you read my earlier posts, 'the game' took over and it followed a completely different path.
Now as I've wrapped up the Haven campaign I still have a yearning for that original concept. Before I commence an FFO campaign. So to this end I've taken a couple of the minor characters that appeared in HAVEN and moved them two years after the outbreak where they have become 'zombie hunters' tidying up those 'sick' that escaped last week's inferno and roam the hills and settlements of backwoods NC looking for brains for a fee.

I found these figures on the net to represent the 'goat suckers' based and undercoated today I should have them completed soon.
So keep looking out for the 'Adventures of Ernie Carver, 'Zombie Hunter.'

When I typed Final Fade Out into google images I got this picture of Mrs. Burton and thought I would share a photo of one of the world's most beautiful woman with you all.

Thanks for popping by. Keep cool.

A moment to blog

What a month!

Sorry for not posting recently but the budget cuts are really pushing the R&F to the limit. I'm so whacked when I get home I hardly have nay energy to do anything. I had a 152 emails to get through in my home folder.

Hence no modelling or blogging for some time. I managed to tidy up a few projects on my VCBW site which are posted there. However, the 'Peoples' Army' figures do make good survivor figures.

Fighting in the Fields

Just cause I liked the picture.

Anyway, I'll keep checking your blogs as and when I can. Thanks for them as it really gives me a boost and some much needed R&R. Lord I need to play a game.

Watch yourselves and take care.

Just a Quickie. HAPPY FATHER'S DAY!

First off HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to all you Dads out there!
How I like to see myself.
How the heirs' do?
It was  the  junior heir's 10th birthday this weekend and the Viscountess was flapping like one of Mathyoo's 'Magnifihens' (http://mathyoo28mm.blogspot.co.uk/2013/06/meet-argentavis-magnificens.html) which forced me to retreat into my man cave and escape the chaos. Which got me to thinking about my coppering project. and so it started.

Peeling off some flash, cutting off back backs, webbing and filling in gaps. I then smoothed the boots and rough bits with 'wood glue'. They're now drying s let's see how it goes.

In the end we took the heir and a few of his friends to the 'Crocky Trail', just outside Chester (http://www.crockytrail.co.uk/). It was a great day out. Basically a farmer has hacked out a footpath around a couple of his fields that follows a stream. He's then built bridges, wobbly and solid, swings and tunnels into the banks. It's the stuff people of a certain age did in their youth, and the kids run wild. There are all sorts of rides and bits and pieces as well. You can stay there all day for £11.00 and bring a picnic. I'd recommend it to any family group visiting this neck of  the woods.
Well you get the idea.

Have a good day you guys.
